Harry Kane has sent Kieran Trippier a text.
German outlet Sport Bild reported on Wednesday that “Bayern Munich were keen to sign Trippier. But the transfer didn’t happen. Munich still want Trippier. He is not only loyal to the team, but also trusts Kane,” the report said.
“Kane started texting me, he didn’t push for the transfer, he just wanted to make sure the rumors were true. At first it was just little things like that, but then he joked that it was warmer in Munich than Newcastle. Kane is a professional, so he didn’t seriously try to seduce me,” he said.
Trippier joined Tottenham Hotspur in the 2015-16 season. At the time, Kyle Walker was dominating the first team, so he mostly came off the bench and played cup competitions. The following season, he played more games but remained Walker’s backup.
In 2017-18, Walker moved to Manchester City and won the starting role, but his performances were below expectations and he lost out to Serge Aurier. An injury to Aurier opened the door for Trippier, but he failed to make an impact. The following season, Trippier failed to turn things around and left Tottenham.
Trippier has done well for Atletico Madrid, assisting many goals with his trademark sharp crosses. He established himself with solid performances. He then returned to the Premier League (PL) with a move to Newcastle United. He became a key resource for Newcastle with his steady defense and flanking attacks.
Munich made a move for Trippier in the winter transfer window. The sudden departure of Benjamin Pavard ahead of the season left the Bavarians with a gaping hole at right fullback. They had Nusair Mazrouei, but he didn’t live up to expectations and Buna Sarr 스포츠토토 was out injured. Munich didn’t have the resources, so midfielder Konrad Reimer was used at right fullback. They tried to sign Trippier, but Newcastle didn’t let them go easily and the transfer didn’t happen.
Meanwhile, Munich have been in the market for several Tottenham players recently. Kane joined the club ahead of the season and Eric Dier joined in the winter transfer window. It will be interesting to see if England teammates and Tottenham teammates Trippier, Kane, and Dier will be able to join forces in Munich.
