As the fourth round races to a close, only two teams have clinched a postseason berth. The NHL Cards’ dominance is longer than expected.

On April 10, the NHL Card defeated the Hana Card 4-3 in six games in Game 6 of the fourth round of the Welcome Savings Bank PBA Team League 2023-24 at the Kintex PBA Stadium in Goyang.

The original plan was for each round to have a different winner, but with the NHL Cards holding a solid lead, the rest of the teams will be looking for P.S. spots based on their overall regular season standings.

The NHL Cards are led by their captain, Jae-ho Cho. Currently, he leads the league in overall wins in the regular season. He has played 29 singles matches (20-9) and 29 doubles matches (21-8) for a dominant win average. His 41-17 total win-loss record is a far cry from the 30-28 record of Nguyen Quoc Nguyen (Vietnam, Hana Card), who ranks second.

In the women’s division, Kim is second in wins and first in winning percentage with a 72% win rate, 36 wins, 14 losses, and an AVG of 0.694. Kim is also third in overall wins and second in winning percentage for both men and women.

While the NHL Card squad has generally been dominant, boasting a solid team effort, Welcome Savings Bank is in third place with 14 wins, 15 losses, and 42 points. Crown HaeTae, currently in second place overall, has 64 points. Below the third place, most of the teams have only 1 to 4 points. Even the last place team, Hiwon Resort, has 32 points. Realistically, the other teams are out of the running for the lead.

Crown HaeTae has a fairly good chance of earning a P.S. ticket for Round 4, but with Welcome Savings Bank trailing by three points, they can’t afford to let their guard down. If Crown HaeTae goes on a losing streak from the 11th and Welcome Savings Bank goes on a winning streak, the tables could turn in an instant.

And the fun of the league is watching the upsets. This is why it will be interesting to see which ‘goblin’ team will break the NHK Cards’ winning streak.

The NHL Cards will look to extend their record-breaking 14-game winning streak against the Hawks on Nov. 11.

There’s one interesting thing about the Huons, who are currently 3-3 with a solid record.
