Cameroon Football Federation president Eto’o banned from attending national team matches for six months

Former star player Samuel Eto’o, 43, president of the Cameroon Football Association, has been banned from attending national team matches for six months by Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the Associated Press reported today.

FIFA suspended Eto’o for an incident that occurred during the round of 16 match between Cameroon and Brazil at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2024 last month.

However, FIFA did not specify what happened during the match.

The match ended in a 3-1 victory for Brazil after extra time.

FIFA determined that “Eto’o acted in an aggressive manner, violated the principles of fair play and breached the regulations relating to misconduct by match officials.”

FIFA’s punishment applies to all Cameroon’s men’s and women’s national teams. Eto’o will not be allowed to officiate at any national team matches until March next year.

Cameroon’s senior men’s national team has until March next year to qualify for the 2026 North and Central American World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations.

Striker Eto’o, nicknamed the Black Panther during his playing days, is a “legend” who has scored 56 goals in 118 A-match appearances and is a four-time African Player of the Year.

He has played in four World Cups and helped Cameroon to two African Cup of Nations titles, in 2000 and 2002.

He also made his mark on the professional scene, winning the UEFA Champions League three times.

In December 2021, he was elected president of the Cameroon Football Association for a four-year term. 바카라사이트 추천
