Chile had to settle for a draw with Peru in their Copa America 2024 opener.
Chile played Peru to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their Group A match at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday (June 22).
Chile played a dominant game with 65% of the ball possession, but a lack of finishing prevented them from earning the three points.
Most notably, veteran striker Alexis Sanchez missed a great chance in the 16th minute.
Victor Dybala’s low pass from the left was met by Sanchez, who was unstoppable on the doorstep and finished with a shot that soared over the bar.
The game was rough and tumble, with a whopping 37 fouls (19 Chile). There were also four yellow cards (three for Chile).
Chile, who won the tournament in 2015 and 2016, will be looking to win their third consecutive title.
Chile and Peru are joined in Group A by defending champions Argentina and Canada.
Argentina topped the group with a 2-0 victory over Canada in their opening match the previous day. 먹튀검증
