Miami has been short of one on its 40-person roster, but it put Kitchen on the spot.
Kitchen will reportedly be assigned to Triple-A for now.
Kitchen, who is 27 years old this year, was called up to the Big N League last weekend but was transferred (DFA) the next day without playing in the game.
Playing in the minor leagues without major league experience, Kitchens had an earned run average of 3.95 during 2,252/3 innings, while his strikeout rate was 19.4 percent and his walk rate was 6.3 percent. The grounder rate was 50 percent.
Ko Woo-suk has a 3.90 ERA in the minor leagues.
The strikeout rate of Double-A was 27.8 percent and the walk rate was 7.4 percent. For Triple-A, the strikeout rate was 13.4 percent and the walk rate was 7.5 percent.
The ratio of ground balls was 51.4 percent for TBLA and 41.2 percent for Triple A. In the KBO league, the ratio was about 60 percent.
It’s pretty much the same as Kitchen’s minor league performance.
Nevertheless, instead of Ko Woo-seok, Kitchen was included in the 40-person roster.
Miami doesn’t seem to have any intention of putting Ko Woo-seok in the major leagues.
Meanwhile, Ko has lost two consecutive games in recent months. On Sunday, he gave up a home run for the first time on the U.S. stage.
