Kyrgyz Ambassador to Korea Aida Ismailova and her delegation visited the North Gyeongsang Provincial Office to meet with Governor Lee Cheol-woo on Aug. 5. The meeting focused on strategies to strengthen friendly exchanges between the two regions.
Ismailova expressed a strong desire to enhance collaboration in several key areas, including corporate investment, student exchange programs and cooperation in culture, tourism, agriculture and health care. She formally proposed that Lee visit Kyrgyzstan to further these discussions.
In response, Lee highlighted his previous visit to Kyrgyzstan last year, during which he met with high-ranking officials to seek support for 스포츠 increasing international student enrollments from Kyrgyzstan to Korea. Ismailova assured that her government would actively support North Gyeongsang Province’s initiatives to attract more international students.
Korea and Kyrgyzstan established diplomatic relations in January 1992, and Korea opened its embassy in Kyrgyzstan in October 2008. The two nations have maintained a growing economic relationship, with North Gyeongsang Province exporting $17 million worth of products to Kyrgyzstan last year, including automobiles and cosmetics.
There are approximately 20,000 ethnic Koreans residing in Kyrgyzstan. The recent rise in popularity of K-pop among the younger generation has spurred increased interest in learning the Korean language and exploring Korean culture.
