“The Coolest City” by Forbes magazine

Las Vegas tops foreclosure, and is at its worst in the U.S. housing market and unemployment, education funding, teenage pregnancy, traffic jams and crime. What else? It’s really strange to have someone who lives here.

Yes, it is the coolest city in the U.S. and the same city as New York City, according to Forbes magazine on August 2. It was the first time in three years that the Big Apple shared the bill.

“Things have been tough in Las Vegas, and it’s experiencing one of the worst real estate collapses in the country,” Forbes said. “But the entertainment mecca still welcomes 36 million tourists a year, and Las Vegas’ relaxed laws surrounding gambling and other misdeeds add to the danger and excitement.” That’s why I live here.

Next came Seattle, Chicago, and Oakland, California. Harris Interactive, a market research firm, conducted an exclusive poll of Forbes magazine, asking more than 2,100 adults nationwide which of the 40 largest metropolitan areas was the “coolest.” Here’s a twist: the largest percentage of single respondents thought New York was the coolest city, while married people nodded to Las Vegas.

“Las Vegas has a reputation for attracting pensioners who visit it during the day on a slot machine. In fact, however, respondents ages 18 to 34 thought Las Vegas was cooler than New York,” Forbes pointed out. “Still, while they might imagine it to be the place where it happens, trendy young people don’t account for the majority of visitors to the city.”

Forbes cited the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority when it reported the average age of vacationers in 2009. The rankings included the number of restaurants, bars and clubs, museums, theaters, stadiums and stadiums, galleries, and concert venues.

Jonathan Galaviz of Galaviz and Company Business Strategy Consultants said Forbes’ ranking represents Las Vegas’ long-term economic and financial strength. An example of the “cool” factor that brings businesses to Las Vegas is online retailer Zappos.com , he said.

“One of the things that continues to haunt us is, in many ways, how negative people have become about Las Vegas in so many ways,” Galaviz said. “It seems to be trending to some extent to be negative about Las Vegas. … The pessimism about Las Vegas is understandable, but we believe it should be replaced by an optimistic view that Las Vegas can recover quickly.”

But the economy needs to diversify and create new jobs in healthcare, the 24-hour dot-com business, the film industry and financial services, he said.

“But as long as the free market sees Las Vegas as ‘cool,’ the city will move forward. We don’t have a financial formula or equation to justify that position, but we have that view,” Galaviz said. 메이저 토토사이트

Forbes found the biggest disconnect between the amount of entertainment available and how cool Las Vegas is. While successful in overall coolness, the city placed 25th in nightlife, 27th in galleries and concert venues, and 3rd in museums and live theater venues.
