The Poker World Series will be ready to allow more than 10,000 people to participate in this year’s main event, but Commissioner Jeffrey Pollock declined to predict whether the tournament would create another record-breaking chapter.
“We’re always planning for a better tournament than the previous year,” Pollock said on a conference call. “We’re hoping that means something bigger, but it may not always mean something bigger. And that’s fine.”
Many poker experts have predicted a drop in WSOP participation after Harra announced that he would no longer accept third-party registration from Internet poker rooms accepting bets from U.S. players.
The restrictions, however, have not deterred several sites that allow American theater from operating unauthorized WSOP satellites.
“We have not finalized the details of how we will recruit players to WSOP,” reads an answer to a question on PokerStars.com ‘s FAQ page. “As soon as we become aware of the details, we will let you know. In the meantime, we can reassure you that if you win one of our satellites, you will be able to sit at a major 2007 WSOP event.” 토토사이트 추천
Pollack has indicated that sites will not stand by Harrah and WSOP while operating unauthorized satellites. Sites that ignore Harrah’s demand to stop violating the WSOP trademark will not be allowed to advertise on athletes’ clothing.
“We’ve started trademark training on the dot-com site and we’re helping people understand how they’re infringing on our trademark and getting them to stop it,” Pollock said. “So anyone who’s infringing on our trademark will have to find something else to wear before they play in tournaments.”
