The OK Financial Group, Woori Card and KEPCO teams in the men’s volleyball league where Choi Hong-seok played all together expressed their condolences on their official channels on Thursday. The cause of death is unknown.

Choi Hong-seok, born in 1988, was in the spotlight to the extent that he was selected as the top overall pick in the 2011-2012 season men’s volleyball rookie draft. Already, he has been selected as an outside heater for the Korean national volleyball team since he was a member of the national team.

As soon as he made his debut with Seoul Dream 6 (Uri Card), he became the first rookie to achieve triple crown in November 2011, accelerating his success. Naturally, the rookie of the year award went to Choi Hong-seok. However, his team Dream 6 was reduced to KOVO management team after its parent company gave up operation, and his players suffered slow growth and Choi Hong-seok also suffered from frequent injuries and failed to receive proper treatment. 슬롯머신

However, he was named MVP at the 2015 KOVO Cup, showing that he still has potential for growth. While playing for eight seasons, he was a franchise star for Woori Card, but moved to Suwon KEPCO in November 2018 after being traded one-on-one with Roh Jae-wook.

In 2019, Choi overcame a big crisis. He returned to the court after undergoing surgery after suffering thyroid cancer. After failing to continue his performance as much as he did in his early days as a player, he traded once again to OK Savings Bank Rush & Cash in Ansan in November 2019. In the postseason, Choi fought hard and moved to the postseason for the first time in 10 years, and shed tears as he was moved to the postseason for the first time in 10 years after winning a semi-playoff game.

However, there was a conflict between the club and the salary issue, including the application for salary adjustment, and eventually won the salary adjustment status, but the club refused and was released as a free agent and retired from the player. Choi Hong-seok, who later served as an SBS sports commentator, married in 2016 and had a daughter born in 2017 and a son born in 2019, so the death added to the regret.
