Messi celebrates “Golden Night” with Ballon d’Or…Inter Miami drops 1-2 friendly to New York City

Argentine soccer hero Lionel Messi (36-Inter Miami CF) won his eighth career Ballon d’Or late last month. He said he has no doubt that his club, Inter Miami, will win more trophies in the future.

Messi’s Inter Miami team played a friendly against New York City FC at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday (local time) to conclude its 2023 U.S. season, and the team lost 1-2.

“We’re going to continue to have fun, and we’re going to win the title,” Messi said before the match. I hope you will accompany us, just as you have accompanied us in the last few months that I have been here.”

To honor Messi’s achievement, Inter Miami named the game Noche d’Or (Spanish for “Golden Night”).

“It was hard at the beginning, it’s hard now, but I believe today that next year will be even better,” Messi told the home fans.

Next season, Inter Miami will be joined by veteran goalkeeper Luis Suarez, 36, who played alongside Messi during his time at FC Barcelona. That makes four former Barça players on the roster, including Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

Messi, who is contracted to Inter Miami until the end of 2025, said: “I’ve only been here a short time, but it feels like a long time. I want to thank everyone, not 토토사이트 just the people on the field, but the whole city, for the way they have treated me and my family over the last few months,” he said.

“You guys have shown me a lot of love and made me feel like I’m at home,” he reiterated.
