Revenue was up 7.6% from $515.3 million in Pennsylvania in March 2023, beating February’s total of $449.1 million by 11.1%. It also beat the previous monthly record of $534.2 million set in December last year.
Retail slots have become a major source of revenue again, bringing in $227.9 million for the month of March, up 1.1%. This comes despite a drop in the number of slot machines from 25,643 to 24,886 units. However, revenue from track and field table games fell 0.8% for the month to $85.2 million.
A Record Month for Gaming in Pennsylvania

Online slot sales rose 29.3% to $135.5 million, while internet table gaming sales also rose 31.2% to $53.1 million. In contrast, online poker sales fell 14.4% to $2.5 million in March.
The Hollywood Casino at Pennsylvania National Racecourse maintained its lead in the segment with $72.3 million in gaming revenue. Valley Forge Casino Resort came in second again with $50.8 million and Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $32.8 million.
a further dip in the sports betting market
Game growth would be good news for Pennsylvania, but I can’t say the same is true for the sports betting market.
Revenue here fell 10.0% year-over-year to $45.6 million following a February decline. Of March’s total revenue, $42.3 million came from online betting and $3.2 million retail.
That came despite a 10.7% increase in player spending for the month to $723.5 million.
The Valley Forge Casino Resort, along with its partner FanDuel, has some distance in front of Pennsylvania. Revenue in March reached $24.4 million, with players making $333.2 million.
Hollywood Casino of Meadows and DraftKings again came in second with $10.7 million in total $29.2 million in bets. Hollywood Casino Morgantown, which works with BetMGM, came in third with $51.9 million to $1.8 million.
For other gambling activities in Pennsylvania, video lottery final revenue fell 0.5% to $3.7 million. F
