Lee becomes inaugural KLPGA Tour Doosan Construction Weave Championship champion with two wins on Jeju Island

Last year’s rookie of the year, Lee Ye-won, has been crowned the inaugural champion of the Doosan Construction Weave Championship on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Tour (KLPGA).

Lee edged out rookie Kim Min-sun in a sudden-death playoff on the final day of the tournament at Teddy Valley Golf Resort in Seogwipo, Jeju Island, today (Nov. 13).

Lee and Kim entered the final round at 10-under par. The difference between the two players was their putts.

“I started playing golf and won my first title at the 2015 Boys’ Championship in Jeju Island,” he said, adding, “I don’t know why I’m so good in Jeju Island.”

With her first-place prize of 216 million won, Lee overtook Park Ji-young to take the top spot on the money list (725.92 million won) and leapfrogged Park into second place on the money list.

Organizing Committee raises money for typhoon victims through donation programs

The Games Organizing Committee helped the victims of Typhoon Kanun through various donation programs during the Games.

Jeju, where the tournament was held, was heavily damaged by Typhoon Kanun. The first round of the tournament was also canceled.

The organizers raised a total of KRW 10 million with the Weave Target Challenge event, a 50-meter approach event where players earned KRW 2 million for each shot that landed in a zone on the green, sponsored by Doosan E&C, with the participation of Lim Hee-jung, Park Byeol, Yoo Hyun-joo, and national team member Kim Min-sol.
