Yang Jae-min scores 8 points, 2 rebounds in win over Tokyo

Yang Jae-min (Sendai) made his presence felt with a good shooting touch, but it didn’t translate into a win for his team.

Yang finished with eight points, two rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes and 37 seconds of action off the bench in Albac Tokyo’s 2023-2024 B.League home game against Sendai Zebio Arena in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan on Tuesday. He made one two-pointer and one three-pointer and was 3-of-4 from the free throw line. While Yang did his part, the Sendai 89ers were not smiling. They lost 68-78 after hanging around the entire game.

After being held to two points for about four minutes into the first quarter, Sendai made three quick substitutions in an attempt to turn things around. One of those players was Yang Jae-min. Shortly after entering the game, Yang grabbed a defensive rebound, which led to a driving three-pointer by Nathan Booth.

After not attempting a field goal in the first quarter, Yang scored his first points in the second quarter. He hit the game-winning three-pointer just 16 seconds into the second quarter. Yang added a free throw at the end of the second quarter and continued to make his presence felt in the third quarter with mid-range shots and assists.

Sendai combined the efforts of Yang and former Ulsan Hyundai Mobis player Rashawn Thomas (20 points, 6 rebounds) to keep the game close, but were unable to pull away in the end. They couldn’t overcome an 11-25 start to the first quarter to win their second straight game.

Elsewhere, Lee Dae-sung (Mikawa) started the home game against the Nagoya Fighting Eagles and scored five points (2-of-4 from the field), three rebounds and two 토토 assists in 21 minutes and 20 seconds. The Seahorses Mikawa lost 71-81, their second straight loss. Jang Kook-Kook (Nagasaki) came off the bench against Kyoto Hannariz. He played nine minutes but missed all three of his shots from beyond the arc, going scoreless and grabbing one rebound. Nagasaki Belka also lost a close game, 78-82.

Meanwhile, Lee Hyun-jung (Osaka) missed his second straight game with a finger bruise, and Osaka Evessa lost their third straight game, falling 74-86 in overtime at home to the Saga Bulldogs. Lee will look to improve his form as he aims to return to action at home against the Kyoto Hannarizu on March 13 and 14.
